Future Proof
Who should decide how the gains from automation are shared?
Run the country the way good software is run: small parts that can be swapped, every change tested before it ships, decisions made from evidence, in public.
- Small parts, not one big machine. Build policy from pieces that can be fixed or replaced without tearing the whole thing down.
- Test before release. Try every change on a small scale first, and keep testing it once it's live.
- Decide from the data. Say what would prove you wrong before you start, and publish the numbers either way.
Write one rule for sharing the gains. Test it on someone it affects. They may disagree. Change it after you hear what it misses.
